I rented one of the kings of macro lenses, the Canon MP-E 1-5X zoom. I’m still getting used to it, and the above is my first real attempt. This lens is a real challenge to use, since its just plain hard to see what you’re pointing it at! With this shot I tried to retain the center point as consistently as possible, but minor adjustments were required. These shots are pretty much straight out of the camera, I just used photoshop to merge compose them into one image.
