This cardinal has a mostly bald head. Apparently this is fairly common, but not a well understood phenomenon.
Straight out of camera. This little guy had nerves of steel; he sat perfectly still as I got closer and closer.
It was late and I was tired, so not the most exciting picture today.
These guys are everywhere in Carrboro/Chapel Hill right now.
Nothing fancy, just working the tent. The challenge here was getting even light from one good flash and one stuck with the pedal to the floor, so to speak.
