Taken at the NCBG today. This little guy had an iridescent blue tail that he hid most of the time I was shooting him.

This is the sort of shot I really enjoy making. I picked up a copy of ‘Mastering Canon EOS Flash Photography’ the other day after attending the FlashBus Tour stop here in Durham (those guys are all Nikon, all the time, so I wanted some Canon info). The shot on the cover of that book got me thinking… hey I know enough to do my own version of that! Well, NK Guy’s photo is “better”, but I’m still extremely pleased with mine!

Pretty much SOOC, with some minor contrast tweaks.

I tried a few other shots tonight, but they had problems. This was my backup.

So far this has been a tough week – I’ve had basically zero time for photography. Hopefully it eases up a bit going forward!

Work has been so busy, I am really struggling for time for photography lately…

This picture pretty much captures how I felt when I walked into the restaurant. It was delicious.

Suffice to say, this took many attempts. The bee never landed, but would hover for a while, then fly off and return a few moments later. This cooperative bee let me photograph him for about 10 minutes.

Even with a 400mm lens, it’s still a tiny bird.
